INSTRUCTIONS
FOR TOP GUN MAG 50 OR 38
Congratulations on your purchase of one of the finest,
most durable magnified hunting sight on the market today.
With just a little bit of care, this sight should last you
for years to come. Here are the basic instructions for assembling
the sight.
The first step to remove the items from the package and
place then on a table. Next, remove the bowplate off the
extension bar and mount it to the riser of your bow using
the enclosed Flat head screws. To attach the sight head
(the part with the pins) to the windage unit, first you
take the head in your hands and loosen the lock knob with
the lever on it. You will have to remove this knob completely
and also remove the lever from this knob, but be careful
not to loose the little wave washer or lever as you will
need them. Once the knob is removed, you will see a stainless
steel tube. You then grab the part that looks kind of like
the letter “T”. You position the sight head
so that the stainless steel tube slides into the hole on
the angled slot. It is the hole that has nothing in it at
this point in time. Once the tube is slid into the hole,
re attach the wave washer and the knob into the tube and
thread down until snug. Replace the lever into any of the
holes on the knob.
Next you will remove the lock knob with the lever on it
from your windage unit. Once again you will need to remove
the lever from the knob and be careful not to loose the
washer or knob. You will then slide the stainless tube into
the hole in the end of the extension bar. When you have
done this, re attach the wave washer and the knob into the
tube and tighten until snug. Replace the lever into any
of the holes in the knob. .
Now you insert the extension bar back into the bow plate
and figure out how far you want to extend the vertical base
from your bow. You have only two options on the 3 ½”
bar and 3 options on the 5 or 9” bars. Once you have
the bar where you want it, tighten the knob down until the
bar will not move.
To remove you lens from the sight, you will have to grasp
the sight head and loosen the knurled ring with the glow
in the dark strip on it. Once that is removed, your lens
will just fall out, so be careful not to drop the lens because
it will more than likely break if it hits the ground. If
you are leaving the lens out, replace the knurled ring so
that your glow strip is back in place.
Next you need to get a rough idea of where your pins need
to be for shooting. The best way to do this is to knock
and arrow and let it rest on the arrow rest. By looking
at the bow from behind (like you would be getting ready
to draw) you will be able to see if you need to move the
windage unit left or right. To move your windage unit, you
will loosen the knob with the lever on the bottom of your
sight. You will then micro adjust your windage unit in or
out by turning the black knob. Once you have the pins inline
(or at least real close) with your arrow, then you tighten
the knob back down. You are now ready to sight in your hunting
sight.
When sighting in, it is recommended that you start at approximately
7 yards and use the top pin. This is recommended because
the settings are actually very close to the same as if you
were at 20 yards and there is less of a risk of losing an
arrow. We recommend that you use a target with the x in
the middle and aim at the x so you have a starting point.
Shoot your first arrow into the target. While sighting in,
it is best to make small adjustments and the shoot another
arrow. Remember, always follow the arrow.(i.e. if you miss
left, move your windage left and vice versa.) Continue this
process until your arrow is in line with the x in the middle
of the target. When this happens, it is now time to adjust
for your vertical. There are two ways to handle this, you
can adjust the pin individually by loosening up the cap
screw on the back side of the sight and manually sliding
the pin up or down. Or you can loosen the lock knob that
is on the side opposite the pins and micro adjust the whole
head up or down. Once you are hitting the x at 7 yards,
you can then step back to 20 yards and take a couple of
more shots to fine tune. After you are sighted in at 20,
move back and repeat the process until all of your pins
are sighted in. You will have to manually move the pins
for the further yardages. Please remember, there is no right
or wrong yardage to sight your sight in for. If you want
to sight the pins at 15,23 ½, 34, 42, and 51 that
is completely up to you.
